A Warm Welcome From Fr. Gerald
Céad Mile Fáilte to Horeswood Parish website. We are situated in South West Wexford and we include the communities in both Horeswood and in Ballykelly. The parish incorporates the village of Campile, the wonderful JFK Arboretum and the Kennedy Homestead in Dunganstown, the birthplace of President John F Kennedy’s great – grandfather, Patrick Kennedy.
We want to make our parish website an interesting and worthwhile site to visit for both parishioners and visitors to keep up to date with what is happening in our parish. We hope that all parish and community groups will find it a useful resource for keeping in contact with the parish. I will conclude my words of welcome with our Parish Mission Statement which expresses our vision for our parish.
Nourished by the Eucharist and the Sacraments, the life of Horeswood-Ballykelly parish is centred on serving Christ and one another as a community where all are welcomed, supported and valued and where we share our faith with others.

News & Events
There will be no Patron in Ballykelly this year on Friday, July 2nd due to the Coronavirus. Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning in Ballykelly at 9.30am for all who are buried in Ballykelly and Whitechurch cemeteries. I will bless the graves in both cemeteries and post the video on Facebook.
Churches will reopen for Public Masses on Monday, May 10th. Mass will be celebrated in Horeswood Church on Monday at 9.30am to celebrate the return of Public Masses. We must still adhere to all the protocols of keeping people safe as the Coronavirus has not gone away. Upon entering the Church parishioners are asked to wear masks, to sanitise thier hands and to adhere to social distance guidelines. Holy Communion will be distributed after Mass.
Funerals and Weddings
50 may attend a funeral or a wedding from Monday, 10th May but only six may attend an indoor reception for a wedding and 15 outdoors. Attendance at wakes in private homes and at Funeral Homes remain unchanged i.e. immediate family only and people should be discouraged from queing to pay thier respects.
Drive- in Religious Services may take place outside places of worship (e.g. Church carpark) where all attendees remain in their vehicles and no sharing of vehicle outside of family unit. Masses will be broadcast on the external speakers
From Monday, 10th May 10 will be allowed to attend a Baptismal ceremony.
First Holy Communion and Confirmation
Following consultation with the diocese and with the Staff of Scoil Mhuire NS we have decided that Confirmation and First Holy Communion ceremonies will take place in September. Due to GDPR, parents of Confirmation candidates will need to give their permission for their contact information to be shared with the parish. It will be necessary for the parish to communicate directly with the families of Confirmation candidates in September as they will no longer be pupils in the school. Further information regarding this permission will be distributed shortly.

Kathleen’s funeral cortége will pass her home on Saturday evening at 7.15pm on route to St Brigid’s Church, Ballykelly.
