February 1st – St Brigid, Abbess, Secondary Patron of Ireland
February 2nd – The presentation of the Lord – Candlemas Day. On this feast day we bless candles for use both at home and in the Church. I will bless candles at morning Mass for parishioners and if people would like to donate candles to either Horeswood or Ballykelly church they will be greatly appreciated.
February 3rd – Feast of St Blaise – Bishop of Sebaste, martyred in Armenia. Tradition states that the was a physician before becoming a bishop. Since the eight century he has been venerated as patron of those who suffer from diseases of the throat. I will impart the blessing of throats after morning Mass.
